Today, they are able to feed 2,000 daily with the fresh vegetables harvested locally in their groundbreaking rooftop hunger solution.

The Project, titled Lufa Farms, was established with a simple goal in mind: “Grow food where people live and grow it more sustainably.” This was the guiding mentality for CEO Mohamed Hage as well as the realization that for most, rooftops are an ignored space for the most part. The company’s dedication to sustainability in the field of agriculture reaches far and wide in their operations. Mohamed and his team at Lufa Farms recycle water, minimize energy use, and grow all food without the use of pesticides or other chemical plates. This ensures that the community receives fresh food

This scheme also ensures that no food goes to waste, a country wide problem here in the United States. Lufa Farms dedicated 4 years to developing the sophisticated software and growing technologies utilized on their farms. Their entire greenhouse, built from galvanized steel, aluminum, and glass, is managed entirely by their own software. The fresh vegetables that this project produces are distributed to customers without ever being placed inside a fridge. They are then delivered to drop points around the city, such as café’s and restaurants, for less than $15 a day! Wow! What an incredible vision with fruition that will influence an entire community in a remarkable way!
