Signs Your Deck Needs Repair
Puget Sound rain is hard on decks. Call us if you see any of these:
Soft or spongy boards
Boards that give underfoot are usually rotting from the inside or underneath.
Split, cupped or rotted boards
Damaged boards trap water and spread rot to the framing below.
Loose or wobbly railings
A railing that moves is a safety problem. Have it checked before someone leans on it.
Sagging or bouncy deck
Movement often points to rotted joists, posts or a failing connection to the house.
Rusted or popped fasteners
Corroded nails, screws and hangers weaken the deck over time.
Water leaking below
Stains or drips under a deck or balcony mean the waterproofing has failed.
Deck Repairs We Handle
Deck boards
Rotted, split or cupped boards replaced and refastened, on wood and composite decks.

The connection to your house flashed and sealed so water stays out of your walls.

Loose or damaged railings repaired and secured.
Waterproof decks & balconies
Dec-Tec heat-welded PVC membrane for decks over living space, balconies and rooftop decks.

We find the leak, repair the damaged substrate and rebuild the waterproofing.
Repair or Rebuild? An Honest Answer
Many decks only need targeted repairs. We’ll check what’s under the boards and tell you which one yours needs.
Repair is usually enough when
- Damage is limited to some boards, a stair or a railing
- The joists, beams and posts are still solid
- The deck is otherwise in good shape
Rebuilding makes more sense when
- Rot shows up in the framing in several places
- The deck sags or moves when you walk on it
- You want a waterproof surface over living space
If both are reasonable, we’ll price both in writing so you can decide.

What Homeowners Say

“We got bids from 5 different companies and decided to go with Chase, and I’m so happy we did. The crew was always on time, professional, and did amazing work. We got a new roof, gutters, attic ventilation, and also had some construction work done to extend our porch awning.”
— Jenny Kindschy
“From the initial communications of sorting out the logistics of the project, to the completion of the work, this company helped to create a smooth and successful installation. The crew, Mark and Dustin, were effective and very pleasant to work with. Would hire again!”

Deck Repair FAQ
How much does deck repair cost?
It depends on the size of the deck, how much is damaged, and whether the framing underneath is affected. We give you a written price after a free on-site inspection. Sending a photo with the form helps us come prepared.
Can you replace just the bad boards?
Usually, yes, as long as the framing underneath is sound. Weathered or discontinued boards can be hard to match exactly; we’ll show you the options before work starts.
My deck feels bouncy. Is it safe?
A bouncy or sagging deck can mean rotted framing or a weak connection to the house. Limit use until it’s inspected.
Do you repair composite decks?
Yes. We repair wood and composite decks, including boards, stairs and railings.
My balcony leaks into the room below. Can you fix it?
Yes. We find the source, repair the damaged substrate and install a Dec-Tec waterproof membrane. Certified installations qualify for the manufacturer’s warranty.
Do I need a permit?
Small repairs usually don’t, but structural repairs or a rebuild can, depending on your city. We’ll tell you if your project needs one.
