GAF Introduces New Addition to Liquid-Applied Roofing Line

WeatherCote™ Elastomeric Coating

GAF’s new WeatherCote™ Elastomeric Coating is a water-based acrylic roof coating that provides a durable, protective weather layer for low-slope roofs. A key component, the product is highly reflective, successfully directing heat and UV away from the building. This feature reduces the wear and tear on the membrane below as well as lowers the temperature inside the building, saving energy costs during the hot and humid summer months. The uses for this coating are vast and it can adhere to a variety of substrates, including BUR, SBS, & APP, Scap sheets, metal, wood, and concrete.

Key Features & Benefits

The WeatherCote™ offers some key features and benefits. First is its’ initially high 88% reflectivity, which as mentioned, saves energy costs by reflecting heat away from the building. Next, WeatherCote™ is approved for use even in states with tough UV standards due to the fact that it water based and comes equipped with low VOC. It is versatile and can be applied by spray, roller, or brush and also includes a 7-year material warranty. Surface preparation is vital when using this product. Prior to the application of the coating, the surface must be clean, dry, and free of any loose particles, such as dirt, dust, and oil. Cracks or holes are recommended to be repaired and a moisture scan is also recommended. Any wet roofing materials must be replaced and leaks must be repaired before applying the coating.
