Once again, we got the opportunity to re-roof a beautiful home, this time it was right on the waterfront in Burien, WA. With cedar shakes that were at the end their life, the homeowner chose Chase Construction NW, Inc. to transform their home! They decided to go with one of our most popular roofing systems – GAF’s Timberline HD in Charcoal. Great Choice!
A Beautiful Day For Roofing!
The morning that we started this project right on the waterfront, it was so foggy that we felt like we were floating on an island! We proceeded to tear off the 1 layer of cedar shakes all the way down to the skip-sheathing. We then laid down CDX plywood to create a solid 
sub straight for the roofing system. It was about this time that the clouds lifted, and the beautiful surroundings that we found ourselves in were clear, Mt. Rainier to the South, and the Olympic Mountains to the West, what a view! Our ever-focused team was not affected by the beauty that surrounds them, because what captures their attention is the beauty of a completed roof. Pressing on, the 
crew proceeded to apply an ice and water shield in the critical leak areas, such as the eave and rake, valleys, and penetrations such as vents and the skylight. This helps protect your roof from running water, water damming in your gutters, wind driven rain, etc. Next came the synthetic underlayment an effective vapor barrier, protecting your 
home from damaging moisture. The flashing and starter metals were applied to prepare for the shingle installation, and finally the Timberline HD shingles in Charcoal were applied with great enthusiasm. At this point, the sunshine and great surroundings were muted as the northwest rain moved in. Our crew did not flinch, as they are focused on the quality of their installation and not what mother nature is throwing at them. Rain or shine, we get the job done right every time!
