Contractors are notorious for flaking out on their customers. Seattle, Tacoma and Puyallup roofing contractors rank right up there with the top percentile of injuries and on the job flakiness, for a lack of better terms. In fact imposter roofing contractors have made quite the name for themselves. Now for legitimate businesses that operate with integrity this can be a stumbling block or a stepping stone. Sure, we have to break down the prejudice of being “one of those roofing contractors” when we first come into a home, but its not hard to knock down the walls of defense if you can present your legitimacy as a licensed, bonded, and insured roofing contractor.
Working in Puyallup, Tacoma, Seattle and the surrounding cities you see a lot and hear a lot of stories when it comes to the roofing industry. Horrible installs, a roofer who has messed up the job and taken flight, and worst of all a home owner that tries to file a warranty claim only to find out that the business has closed its door’s (like 80% of all Seattle, Tacoma and Puyallup roofing businesses in the first year ) and there is no longer a responsible party.
You can save your selves a lot of trouble by qualifying your contractor. In the article “How to safely hire a roofing contractor” you will learn the important credentials of a legitimate business, and be able to make a safe hiring choice. Don’t get tricked by a smooth talking salesmen who cant prove who he is. If he has the beef, he should be able to provide the proof. Going with low Joe for bid pricing usually amounts to serious trouble as well. The chances are if their bid is 5K less than everyone they missed something, or they are operating illegally and can’t protect you, or guarantee their work, so they give you a great deal to hire them. Not so great.
Another great source of biased information can be found in review listings and social media platforms such as Google Places, Yelp, Facebook and Google Plus. Your contractor should have an online presence with at least a few reviews to prove their workmanship. Here is a, check out what our customers are saying.
Please be careful when you hire a contractor this roofing season, and if you have any questions contact your home improvement hero’s at Chase Construction North West, Inc.

Great advice…going with “Low Bid Joe” is a receipe for disaster. High quality work at a fair price is what we expect and what we get from Chase Construction….that’s value! Thank you Chase Construction for all of your help over the years in keeping all of our rental units in the dry!
Thanks Ron, we appreciate your feedback and understanding.
Have used Chase NW for home and rentals. Always great service and quality. Wouldn’t go anywhere else.

Good information to know. I’m nearing a roof replacement too and enjoy the helpful hints.
We are glad you found the information of value. The blog article how to safely hire a roofing contractor (which is sited in the blog you just read) has a check list and many more details on how to pre-qualify a contractor. Thanks for taking the time to give us your feedback.
One good way to choose a roofing contractor is to go to http://www.gaf.com and put your zip code in the contractor locator. GAF is the largest roofing manufacturer in North America and only 3 out of 100 contractors in the nation will ever become a factory approved installer like Chase Construction NW, Inc. You will find them on the GAF website @ http://www.gaf.com Hopefully this helps the homeowner when choosing the right roofing contractor. -Donovan Gladstone (GAF Corp.)
