Another roofing success story from Chase Construction North West Inc. right in Sumner! When our crew first saw the home and shed in question, the damage was apparent. The aesthetics, as well as functionality, of both roofs were faltering. The roofs were 18 years old and were comprised of 3 tab composition material. Our crew came in and tore off 1 layer of composition, while also repairing the damaged 1/2” cdx plywood. The plywood was damaged due to rusted fasteners, water moisture seeping in, and inferior underlayment. The previous product used was just 15 pound felt paper.
The Details
The roofing system we chose to go with for the project was the IKO Cambridge. We used the V300 9” CorAVent to establish proper ventilation. Next, we used “the ultimate shield for your roof’s defense,” or IKO’s reputable StormShield. This product is meant to act as a tough and durable ice and water protector. For our eaves and rakes, we used 1×3” 26g painted steel eave starter metal, and 1/2 x 1/2” rake metal. For our synthetic underlayment, we used IKO’s RoofGard-Cool Grey. The synthetic, non-breathable material provides a superior slip resistant surface and doesn’t crack, peel, or delaminate. As a starter strip we used Leading Edge Plus. The sealant strip along their bottom edge creates a tight seal to protect shingle ends against wind damage and reduce shingle blow-offs. Lastly, we utilized IKO’s hip and ridge cap shingles whose perforated design allows us to get three strips out of one shingle. Overall, our team completed another job amazingly well done!
