An Academy for Heroes
It is no secret that in the construction industry, it is harder and harder to find qualified labor, and roofing is no exception. GAF, North America’s largest manufacturer of commercial and residential roofing, has found a way to help fill the labor shortage as well as help soldiers transition into civilian life at the same time. They have partnered with ProTrain and US Military Pipeline to begin a training program on roofing installation for the purpose of transitioning into the roofing industry.
In this 4 week training course, veterans get access to a professional and comprehensive steep-slope roofing primer (includes OSHA 10) and a high-level commercial roofing introduction. The curriculum includes completion of a student workbook, quizzes, field visits, and hands-on training on an in-class roofing deck. And finally, they are ready for Master Elite® Roofers to be able to hire them!
